Crowfoot Skating Club: Policies, Rules and Regulations

The Crowfoot Skating Club offers a STARSkate Program for those skaters who are wishing to test and/or compete. The test program has three main disciplines, which are Skating Skills, Freeskate and Dance. Similar to last year, the ice times for this fall/winter have been labeled as Junior, Senior, or Mixed(Open). general guidelines for our Club:

Junior: Star 1-4

Senior: Star 5-10

Mixed: Junior and Senior

It is at the head STARSkate coach's discretion as to which session a skater will be designated.  During the mixed sessions it will be the responsibility of all skaters to keep their heads up for the other skaters.

Prior to registration you must choose a coach and contact them to determine if they have space available and if so what days, type and number of lessons per week they can give your skater. Lesson fee rates are for 15 minute private lessons. Group lessons and rates should be discussed with your coach. Please see listing of Crowfoot Skating Club Coaches.

Skaters will pay for the ice cost at registration and then organize and pay for private lessons separately with the coach of their choice.

  • A skater is not allowed on club ice until they have registered and paid.
  • If your child misses their assigned day of skating, you will not be allowed to make up for it on another day.
  • For pickup sessions;  Coaches will collect the fee from skaters at the beginning of the session and skaters will not be allowed onto the ice until payment has been made.

  • Look both directions before leaving the boards or entering the ice surface.
  • Skaters will get up and clear the ice quickly after a fall.
  • First Right of Way always goes to the skater performing their solo. If a skater wishes, they may wear the Club Vest to identify they are performing their solo.
  • Skaters in a lesson have the second right of way. Other skaters must allow the coach and skater room to work and must not disrupt a lesson.
  • Skaters are expected to be on time for all on and off ice sessions and to train throughout the entire session. Skaters are expected to make good use of the ice time provided to them and to not be a distraction to other skaters.
  • DO NOT stand or stop anywhere in the jump area. Move in and out of jump areas quickly. Exit jump areas closely along the boards. Do Not spin in the jump areas unless doing your program.
  • If stopping to stand, please do so only along the boards between the blue lines.

Volunteer  Information - CROWFOOT SKATING CLUB MEMBERS

Family participation is required for the effective and successful operation of our club. For each skater registered, a parent/guardian is REQUIRED to sign up for one volunteer position. If you have two skaters skating with our club, you are required to choose two volunteer positions. A list of positions may be located at the volunteer sign up link on the registration page (left handed side menu). A volunteer cheque must be submitted at the parent information meeting postdated for January 1st 2019 and will only be cashed at the end of the season if your commitment has not been met. If you choose not to volunteer, then please choose the $250 volunteer buy out option at checkout.

There are also positions on the Executive Board that would fulfill the volunteer commitment. These positions will require an additional commitment of attending meetings. Your executive is made up of skating parents who are volunteering their time to help our club succeed.  Board meetings are hosted on a Wednesday evening once every second month.  If you become part of the executive and attend all of the scheduled meetings, the club will offer your skater (1 skater only) a week of ice time during a June session.

Once you have been assigned a job for the year, please contact crowfootskatingclub@gmail.com for any questions. Please note that the Club reserves the right to ask you to assist elsewhere if needed.

For questions please contact the volunteer coordinator:  crowfootskatingclub@gmail.com
